The Parliamentarians’ Group for Children (PGC) will convene a Roundtable Meeting of Legislators on Sanitation and Nutrition on 31 October 2015 at Jaipur Marriott, Rajasthan. The meeting will bring together Members of Parliament, Members of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, state ministers, district officials and UNICEF representatives to explore the links between sanitation and child nutrition and strengthen legislators’ role in advancing these priorities.
Chaired by Shri Kailash Chandra Meghwal, Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, the roundtable will feature discussions on the state’s initiatives, insights from UNICEF specialists and district experiences from Udaipur and Churu. Participants will examine how legislators can promote community engagement, build a social movement for sanitation and make children’s issues a priority through a focused action framework.
The programme will also announce the launch of the PGC Rajasthan Chapter, invite legislators to join the WASH-Legislators’ Forum and recognise champions of open-defecation-free communities. It will conclude with an invitation to sign a declaration supporting action on children’s issues and sanitation.
